Exciting update on the proposed Wellington Movie Museum

I woke up this morning to the news that Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor have finally secured (pending Wellington City Council approval) a site to build a long anticipated movie museum. Both men have extensive collections of memorabilia from both their own projects and other well know movies and TV shows. The rumours have been around for at least six or seven years and there have been a couple of near misses along the way.
The location, directly opposite Te Papa (our national museum) is better than I could have wished for, and it means that Wellington’s appeal as a walkable city is even greater now. In fact, where possible I’ll be recommending an extra day in Wellington on all my private nationwide tours, as there is just so much to see and do here (yes I live in Wellington and yes I’m a little bit biased).
I’ve been talking to my clients about this for years and many of them have said that they would return to New Zealand to visit a place like this. I could go on, but the best information currently available is in the link below:
